Tess AI gives its users tons of different combinations of AI models, formats, and qualities to choose from. Because of this, there's one thing you’ll need for all the features that use our intelligence within the platform. We’re talking about the credit system—this is how you get to make images, videos, chat with Tess, and much more.
Credits are like coins. Any content you make with Artificial Intelligence has a cost, and credits are the simplest way to measure it. So, the amount of credits you use depends on the choices you make for the content you want to create. The more advanced, bigger, or more complex (in terms of AI effort) your content is, the more credits it will take.
In these two images, for example, we used the same prompt and all other settings were the same, but by turning on the Alchemy option (which usually makes the results better), the credit usage went up from 7 to 10.
When we talk about text AIs, Tokens help us figure out how much credit will be used. The relationship between Tokens and Credits has to do with the length of your text. The bigger your text is, the more Tokens there will be, and those get turned into credits afterwards.
The number of these Tokens changes depending on how OpenAI does Tokenization. It's hard to guarantee a fixed rule, since this depends on language, AI models, and other stuff, but we can use the following estimate:
English: 1 word ≈ 1.3 tokens
Spanish: 1 word ≈ 2 tokens
Portuguese: 1 word ≈ 2 tokens
In Tess templates, for example, the credit count is tied to how many Tokens get used, just like in the example above. The more Tokens you use, the more credits you'll need.
In practice, templates spend credits both for running and for their size, based on Token count.
Credit Measurement in Tess AI
Copilot (Chat):
Models with the infinity symbol are free (don’t use credits).
Paid models show the cost in credits for every 100 input/output tokens.
Adding knowledge bases costs about 10-20 credits per file (up to 200MB).
Image Generation:
Tess AI V4 is unlimited
Paid models show the cost in credits per generated image.
Example: DALL-E 3 costs 67.34 credits per image.
Video Generation:
Cost is shown per generated video.
Example: Tess AI V4 costs 140 credits for a 10 second video.
Voiceover:
Cost is shown per 100 characters of text.
Example: 11.11 credits per 100 characters.
Transcription:
Fixed cost of 5 credits per run + 0.08 credits per video second.
Always check the generation cost before using paid tools in Tess AI, and take advantage of the free models to save credits!
